Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s <em>GABBAR SINGH</em> movie has been declared officially as the highest grosser in telugu cinema industry so far.<br />
Within just 50 days of its run, this movie has overtaken tollywood’s biggest blockbuster till date, <em>Magadheera</em>.<br />

Though producer Bandla Ganesh is showing pawan as an excuse not to 
declare the collections officially, he accepted the fact that Gabbar 
Singh is now the top grosser and has overtaken Magadheera.<br />
Also, it is going strong in many areas.<br />
In hyderabad, many theatres playing it have recorded housefull collections due to Pawanfans on 50th day.<br />

Trade pundits have estimated that Gabbar Singh collected a share of 
more than 2 crores more than Magadheera’s closing business share.<br />
And this has happened in just 50 days.<br />
One can imagine what records will it set, when it completed 100th day on 7th october.</div>

boxoffice with housefull boards at many theatres across the state.<br />

Gabbar Singh will complete 50 days of run on 29th june, and producer 
Bandla Ganesh has stopped talking about collections or 50 days function,
 much to the disappointment of pawanfans.<br />

However, Gabbar has pushed big movies like S.S.Rajamouli’s <em>EEGA</em> to july, with its strong collection trends.</div>

Director Harish Shanker, who started off his career with ‘<em>Shock</em>’, starring Ravi Teja and Jyothika, is now the most sought after director in Tollywood. His movie ‘<em>Gabbar Singh</em>’
 created a new opening day box-office record in the Telugu film industry
 and finds itself among the top record-breakers at the national level 
too.<br />

<strong>Self-confessed Power Star fan</strong><br />

He calls himself more of a Pawan Kalyan fan than a director. “<em>I have seen ‘Khushi’, ‘Tholi Prema’ and ‘Thammudu’ more than 30 times in a theatre and I still cannot get over his style,</em>” says Harish Shanker who is living his dream of directing his childhood hero in ‘Gabbar Singh’ and basking in the glory. “<em>Back
 in my college days at MNR College, I used to recite his dialogues in 
his style and dance like him. He was like the youth icon for all of us. 
The way he dressed and the way he carried himself was just amazing,</em>” he recalls.<br />

And how did ‘<em>Gabbar Singh</em>’ happen?<br />

“<em>I had approached Pawan Kalyan some time ago with a script. He 
liked it but the project did not materialise. But after ‘Mirapakaay’ was
 released, Pawan Kalyan approached me and said he wanted to remake 
Dabangg with the title ‘<strong>Gabbar Singh</strong>’ as he was very impressed with the movie. He asked me if I could remake it in Telugu?</em>” Harish Shanker explains.<br />

That was the moment he had been waiting for. “<em>I had a feeling from that day that this movie will break all records at the box-office. I knew I had a huge responsibility,</em>” he adds.<br />

<strong>In and around Gabbar Singh</strong><br />

Explaining the thought-process behind the movie, he shares, “<em>People
 still go crazy about Sholay and a character like Gabbar Singh has that 
promising element. And ‘Dabangg’ is a very entertaining movie, which is 
quite close to a lot of Telugu movies. So we thought why not go ahead 
with it.</em>” Asked if he believes in remaking movies? He replies, “<em>I believe in talent and execution. I think any movie should have all the necessary elements and people should appreciate it.</em>”<br />

Sharing his experiences shooting for the movie, he says, “<em>It was an amazing experience shooting with Pawan Kalyan. He is the back-bone of the movie.</em>” Pawan Kalyan had to wait for 11 years after ‘<em>Khushi</em>’ for another superhit, ‘<em>Gabbar Singh</em>’.<br />

Did Harish have to market the movie well enough to bring back the masses to the silver screen? “<em>Not at all,</em>” says Harish. “<em>For a star like Pawan Kalyan, I don’t think one needs to market anything. ‘<strong>Gabbar Singh</strong>’ is a treat to all of his fans like his other movies. People will come and watch him, because they love him,</em>” he claims.<br />

Shruti Hassan was the leading lady of the movie. Was she their first choice for the role? “<em>We
 wanted a fresh face for the movie and preferably actors who haven’t 
acted alongside Pawan Kalyan. I thought of Shruti Hassan, as she has a 
very pretty face and suited the role of Bhagyalakshmi in the movie,</em>” the director reasons.<br />

<strong>Banning the piracy pirates</strong><br />

Within a week of the release of the movie, complete DVD rip version 
of the movie is already available on a few websites. Like every other 
director, Harish Shanker believes in killing piracy. “<em>Piracy is 
something which all of us are fighting against. It takes a lot to make a
 movie and piracy means great loss for us. We will make sure all the 
links on the internet are deleted. We request people to stop uploading 
videos,</em>” he says, promising rewards for anyone who helps him tackle piracy.<br />

<strong>Stepping on the police line</strong><br />

‘<em>Gabbar Singh</em>’ landed in a controversy for the way Pawan 
Kalyan sports the police uniform in the movie. Giving his side of the 
story, Harish explains, “<em>We all respect police officers and have 
made sure that we do not offend them in anyway. Pawan Kalyan is not 
wearing a police cap in any of the scenes in the movie, as we did not 
want to hurt anybody’s sentiments. A lot of my relatives and friends, 
who are police officers, have given me great feedback on the movie.</em>”<br />

“<em>My next project with Junior NTR is finalised. I read him the 
script and he really liked it. Even the cast has been finalised, but I 
guess it’s too early to announce all that now. I will surely make an 
official announcement very soon.</em>”<br />

And does this Power Star fan, have another movie plan for Pawan Kalyan?<br />

“<em>I can make 100 movies with Pawan Kalyan. I have planned another 
script with him. I don’t know how will he react to it and if things will
 work out. It’s too early to say anything about the script right now,</em>” he shares.<br />

Well, the telugu movie is itself a remake of hindi hit movie <i>Dabangg</i>.<br />

But the surprising news is that, Gabbar Singh’s hindi dubbing rights for TV channels is priced at 50 lakhs.<br />
Usually, many tamil and telugu hit movies are dubbed by hindi channels 
like colors, star plus, Smax etc, but those rights are bought at around 
15-20 lakhs, even if its a superhit movie.<br />

Despite being a remake of Dabangg, Gabbar Singh is getting offers of 
almost 3 times the regular price, because the talk spread in north india
 that Gabbar Singh is better than Dabangg.<br />
Even the item song <i>Kevvu Keka</i> is said to be well shot that <i>Munni Badnaam</i> in the original.<br />

After this, straight hit movies from south regional languages are expected to get more price from hindi channels.</div>

This is about Ram Charan’s <em>Racha</em>, which completed 6 weeks run and is still going strong at Sandhya 35mm in RTC X roads, hyderabad.<br />

Now, Pawan Kalyan’s <em>Gabbar Singh</em> has joined the party at Sandhya 70mm and is shaking the records since past four days.<br />

Going by the current trends, it looks like both Babai and Abbai are 
determined to rewrite the boxoffice records and run successfully in 
these two theatres for maximum number of days.<br />

Also, Gabbar Singh movie has movie collected a share of Rs.17.38 at the end of its three days run in A.P only.<br />

 Kalyan’s GABBAR SINGH movie is ruling the boxoffice right now and it is
 prompting distributors to replace other flop movies in theatres.<br />

‘Dil’ Raju, who brought distribution rights of both Jr.NTR’s dhammu and Pawan’s Gabbar Singh, lost huge money in Dhammu.<br />
Now he wants utilize the positive talk of Gabbar Singh and he has 
emptied more theatres of Dhammu to push in Gabbar Singh for extra shows 
and thereby extra profits in nizam area.<br />

Taran Adarsh, who reviews hindi movie, has written that Gabbar Singh 
is competing with big hindi releases and in USA, its collections will 
even beat top bollywood heroes latest releases.<br />

Pawan Kalyan starrer ‘Gabbar Singh’ was expected to be a big hit, and
 the film’s release has proved all the predictions correct. If initial 
reports are to be believed then ‘Gabbar Singh’ is going to be one of the
 most successful Telugu films of recent times.<br />
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also suggests the same. He tweets,”USA: 
#GabbarSingh [Telugu] Thu $ 157,349, Fri $ 204,897, Sat $ 214,844 [some 
sites unreported]. Total: $ 577,090. Superb!”<br />
Adarsh further writes,”#GabbarSingh USA total could be higher than 
what’s reported [$ 577,090], since the collections are of ‘reported 
screens’ only.”<br />

Taran Adarsh indicates that a Telugu film can surpass the business of
 more publicized Hindi films such as ‘Rockstar’, ‘Desi Boyz’, and ‘Agent
 Vinod’,”USA ‘opng wknd’ #Rockstar $ 612,235, #DesiBoyz $ 702,325 [5 
dy], #EMAET $ 637,100, #AgentVinod $ 427,043. #GabbarSingh will cross 
all.”<br />
This is not an easy feat to achieve for any Indian regional language 
film in the US. Adarsh emphasizes his argument,”Point to be noted is 
that #GabbarSingh ‘reported screens’ in USA are half or 1/3rd of those 
Hindi biggies, yet the total will be bigger.”<br />
Directed by Harish Shankar, ‘Gabbar Singh’ is the Hindi remake of Salman
 Khan’s ‘Dabangg’. The film stars Pawan Kalyan, Shruti Haasan and 
Abhimanyu Singh in the lead roles.<br />
Shruti Haasan is also receiving praises for her performance in ‘Gabbar 
Singh’. Critics feel that she has done justice to her role of a village 
girl. </div>
