Within just 50 days of its run, this movie has overtaken tollywood’s biggest blockbuster till date, <em>Magadheera</em>.<br />

Though producer Bandla Ganesh is showing pawan as an excuse not to 
declare the collections officially, he accepted the fact that Gabbar 
Singh is now the top grosser and has overtaken Magadheera.<br />
Also, it is going strong in many areas.<br />
In hyderabad, many theatres playing it have recorded housefull collections due to Pawanfans on 50th day.<br />

Trade pundits have estimated that Gabbar Singh collected a share of 
more than 2 crores more than Magadheera’s closing business share.<br />
And this has happened in just 50 days.<br />

Given the fact that Pawan Kalyan has got a strong following among the

Apparently, Rajini described “<i>Gabbar Singh</i>” as a perfect mass entertainer in recent times.<br />
“<i>Gabbar Singh</i>” has been declared as a hit even in Tamil Nadu, 
and the film is erasing all previous Tollywood records in terms of

Right now Gabbar Singh is in 3rd position for alltime shares

Director Harish Shanker, who started off his career with ‘<em>Shock</em>’, starring Ravi Teja and Jyothika, is now the most sought after director in Tollywood. His movie ‘<em>Gabbar Singh</em>’
 created a new opening day box-office record in the Telugu film industry
 and finds itself among the top record-breakers at the national level 
too.<br />

<strong>Self-confessed Power Star fan</strong><br />

He calls himself more of a Pawan Kalyan fan than a director. “<em>I have seen ‘Khushi’, ‘Tholi Prema’ and ‘Thammudu’ more than 30 times in a theatre and I still cannot get over his style,</em>” says Harish Shanker who is living his dream of directing his childhood hero in ‘Gabbar Singh’ and basking in the glory. “<em>Back
 in my college days at MNR College, I used to recite his dialogues in 
his style and dance like him. He was like the youth icon for all of us. 
The way he dressed and the way he carried himself was just amazing,</em>” he recalls.<br />

And how did ‘<em>Gabbar Singh</em>’ happen?<br />

“<em>I had approached Pawan Kalyan some time ago with a script. He 
liked it but the project did not materialise. But after ‘Mirapakaay’ was
 released, Pawan Kalyan approached me and said he wanted to remake 
Dabangg with the title ‘<strong>Gabbar Singh</strong>’ as he was very impressed with the movie. He asked me if I could remake it in Telugu?</em>” Harish Shanker explains.<br />

That was the moment he had been waiting for. “<em>I had a feeling from that day that this movie will break all records at the box-office. I knew I had a huge responsibility,</em>” he adds.<br />

<strong>In and around Gabbar Singh</strong><br />

Explaining the thought-process behind the movie, he shares, “<em>People
 still go crazy about Sholay and a character like Gabbar Singh has that 
promising element. And ‘Dabangg’ is a very entertaining movie, which is 
quite close to a lot of Telugu movies. So we thought why not go ahead 
with it.</em>” Asked if he believes in remaking movies? He replies, “<em>I believe in talent and execution. I think any movie should have all the necessary elements and people should appreciate it.</em>”<br />

Sharing his experiences shooting for the movie, he says, “<em>It was an amazing experience shooting with Pawan Kalyan. He is the back-bone of the movie.</em>” Pawan Kalyan had to wait for 11 years after ‘<em>Khushi</em>’ for another superhit, ‘<em>Gabbar Singh</em>’.<br />

Did Harish have to market the movie well enough to bring back the masses to the silver screen? “<em>Not at all,</em>” says Harish. “<em>For a star like Pawan Kalyan, I don’t think one needs to market anything. ‘<strong>Gabbar Singh</strong>’ is a treat to all of his fans like his other movies. People will come and watch him, because they love him,</em>” he claims.<br />

Shruti Hassan was the leading lady of the movie. Was she their first choice for the role? “<em>We
 wanted a fresh face for the movie and preferably actors who haven’t 
acted alongside Pawan Kalyan. I thought of Shruti Hassan, as she has a 
very pretty face and suited the role of Bhagyalakshmi in the movie,</em>” the director reasons.<br />

<strong>Banning the piracy pirates</strong><br />

Within a week of the release of the movie, complete DVD rip version 
of the movie is already available on a few websites. Like every other 
director, Harish Shanker believes in killing piracy. “<em>Piracy is 
something which all of us are fighting against. It takes a lot to make a
 movie and piracy means great loss for us. We will make sure all the 
links on the internet are deleted. We request people to stop uploading 
videos,</em>” he says, promising rewards for anyone who helps him tackle piracy.<br />

<strong>Stepping on the police line</strong><br />

‘<em>Gabbar Singh</em>’ landed in a controversy for the way Pawan 
Kalyan sports the police uniform in the movie. Giving his side of the 
story, Harish explains, “<em>We all respect police officers and have 
made sure that we do not offend them in anyway. Pawan Kalyan is not 
wearing a police cap in any of the scenes in the movie, as we did not 
want to hurt anybody’s sentiments. A lot of my relatives and friends, 
who are police officers, have given me great feedback on the movie.</em>”<br />

“<em>My next project with Junior NTR is finalised. I read him the 
script and he really liked it. Even the cast has been finalised, but I 
guess it’s too early to announce all that now. I will surely make an 
official announcement very soon.</em>”<br />

And does this Power Star fan, have another movie plan for Pawan Kalyan?<br />

“<em>I can make 100 movies with Pawan Kalyan. I have planned another 
script with him. I don’t know how will he react to it and if things will
 work out. It’s too early to say anything about the script right now,</em>” he shares.<br />

పవన్: లేదు..లేదు…అది యాంబిషియస్ ఎచీవ్…విపరీతమైన సహనం ఉంది..ఒక పని 
సాధించటానికి కావాల్సిన తపన ఉంది..ఆ పని కోసం విపరీతమైన కష్టం పడగలడు. అంటే
 ..చిన్న పని చేయాలన్నా చాలా ఆటుపోట్లు తింటూంటాం. అతను ఎలాగైనా పనిని 
సాధించగలడు. అతనికున్న ఎంతయూజమ్ నచ్చింది. మ్రొక్కుబడిగా చెయ్యాలి కాబట్టి 
తప్పదు..అన్నట్లు ఉండదు..గణేష్ ది ఎట్లా ఉంటుంది అంటే ఇది చెయ్యాలి 
అనుకుంటే చేసేస్తాడు…ఆల్రెడీ తను సుస్వాగతం లో నాతో పాటు యాక్ట్ చేసాడు. 
అప్పటినుంచీ తెలుసు…తను గురించి మాట్లాడాలంటే నాకు నవ్వు 
వస్తుంది..ఎందుకంటే మా ఇద్దరి మధ్యా పర్శనల్ గ ఉన్న సరదాలు ఉంటాయి కదా 
అందుకే నవ్వు వస్తుంది. బట్..ఇయ్యన్నీ ప్రక్కన పెడితే హీ ఈజ్ సీరియస్ 
ఫిల్మ్ మేకర్..అతనిలో నచ్చే గుణం ఏమిటంటే..సాధారణంగా మనిషికి ఓటమి రాగానే 
డీలా పడిపోతారు అందరూ..కానీ గణేష్ లో ఓటమి వచ్చే కొద్ది అతిలో ఇంతూయజమ్ 
పెరిగుతూంటుంది…ఉత్సాహం పెరుగుతూంటుంది.సాధించాలన్న పట్టుదల పెరుగుతుంది. 
ఇవన్నీ చూసి అతనితో కొనసాగుతున్నాను..<br />

గణేష్ గారిలో బాగా నచ్చేవి ఈ ఓర్పు..సహనం అంటారా?<br />

పవన్: పట్టుదల..రెండు ఏంటంటే..చాలా వాస్తవంగా ఉంటాడు. అంటే నా డేట్స్ 
కావాలి..కానీ నీకు ఇంతే ఇస్తాను అని చెప్తాడు. చాలా కమిటెడ్ గా ఉంటాడు. 
అలాగే గాలిలో తేలే మాటలు మాట్లాడడు. స్పీచ్ లలో బాగా మాట్లాడతాడు 
కానీ..వాస్తవం లోకి వచ్చేసరికి..ప్రాక్టికల్ గా చెప్తాడు. అతని 
కష్టానికి,ఓర్పుకి అతను ప్యూచర్ లో తెలుగు పరిశ్రమ గర్వించతగ్గ నిర్మాత 
అవుతాడు. ఇవన్నీ ఎందుకండి అతను ఫ్యాసనేట్ ప్రొడ్యూసర్.<br />

పవన్: అంటే నేనెప్పుడూ సినిమాలు డిజైన్ చేసుకోను..ఇలాంటి స్పెసిఫెక్

 బట్టి చెయ్యాలనుకుంటాను తప్ప నేను ప్రేక్షకులను ఆకట్టుకోవాలి..ఇలా 
చేస్తే..నచ్చుతుంది..అలా నేను ఆలోచించను..అది నేను చెయ్యలేని పని..ఇది నా

పవన్: నేనేం చెయ్యలేదండి..మొత్తం హరీష్ చేసాడు..నాకు చెప్పిందల్లా..నేను
 మిమ్మల్ని ఎలా చూడాలనుకుంటున్నామో..అలా చూపిస్తాను అని..అలాగే చూపించాడు.<br />

సుహాసిని గారు మీ మదర్ క్యారెక్టర్ వేసారు..ఆమె మీ అన్నయ్యగారితో కూడా చేసారు కదా<br />

పవన్: ఆమె నాకు చెన్నైలో ఉన్నప్పటినుంచీ తెలుసు..ఇట్స్ ఎ నైస్ 
ఎక్సపీరియన్స్..అంటే మాకు ఆమె చిన్నప్పటినుంచీ మా కుటుంబ సభ్యుల్లో ఒకరిలాగ
 ఉంటూ వచ్చింది. నాకు మా అక్కతో ఉంటే ఎలా ఉంటుందో ..అలా ఉంటుంది. అల్మోస్ట్
 నేను టీనేజ్ లో ఉన్నప్పటినుంచి ఆవిడ తెలుసు..ఆ సీన్స్ లో ఆ ఇంటిమసీ 
రిప్లెక్ట్ అయ్యింది.<br />

పవన్: అలా చెప్పలేనండి..ఇది అవుట్ అండ్ అవుట్ ఎంటర్టైనింగ్ అనాలి. 
లాస్ట్ షాట్ దాకా ఎంటర్టన్మెంట్ ఉంటుంది. నాకైతే ఐ గోటు మై హోమ్ 
అనిపించింది.<br />

సినిమాలో బాగా నచ్చిన సీన్…<br />

పవన్: ఎక్సట్రీమ్ పీక్ ఉన్నది మాత్రం..రౌడీలతో సరదా సన్నవేసం.<br />

కొంచెం పర్శనల్ క్వచ్చిన్…మీరు ఖాళీ టైమ్ లో ఏం చేస్తూంటారు..మీ హాబీస్ ఏంటి<br />

పవన్: ఖాళీ సమయాల్లో ఏమి చెయ్యాలా అని ఆలోచిస్తూంటాను..ఇదివరకు చాలా చెప్పేవాడిని..చాలా చేస్తూంటాను..పుస్తకం చదువుతూంటాను.<br />

ఎలాంటి పుస్తకాలు చదువుతారు..<br />

పవన్: ఎక్కువగా…నాన్ ఫిక్షన్ చదువుతాను…నవల్స్ చాలా తక్కువ…అలాగే తెలుగు సాహిత్యం<br />

ఇక మీరు ఏ ప్లేస్ కి వెళ్లి బాగా ఎంజాయ్ చెయ్యాలనుకుంటారు<br />

పవన్: నాకైతే హైదరాబాద్ కాఫీ షాప్ లకు వెళ్లి కూర్చుని తాగాలని ఉంటుంది.
 అది నా కోరిక..అది ఇప్పటివరకూ జరగలేదు..చిన్నప్పుడు చేద్దామంటే..పనిపాటా 
లేదు మళ్లీ టీ షాప్ లలో కూడా కూర్చుంటావా అంటారు. ఇప్పుడు వెళ్దామంటే 
కుదురదు. నా కోరిక..అలా ఇరానీ టీ హోటల్ లో కూర్చుని అలా మాట్లాడుకూంటూ చాయ్
 తాగాలని…<br />

ఎవరితో వెళ్లటం ఇష్టం…<br />

పవన్: ఆ టైమ్ లో నాకు నచ్చిన వ్యక్తులు ఎవరెవరు 
ఉంటారు..గణేష్,హరీష్..అంటే నా మనస్తత్వానికి దగ్గరగా ఉండి..సరదాగా ఉండే 
వ్యక్తులతో వెళ్లాలనుకుంటాను..<br />

అంటే అబ్బాయిలతో వెళ్లటమే ఇష్టపడతారు…<br />

పవన్: ఖచ్చితంగా…(నవ్వుతూ) నిజంగా అమ్మాయిలు ఎప్పుడూ ఆలోచన రాదు..<br />

పవన్: నేను విపరీతమైన ఉపవాశంలో ఉంటూంటాను..కొవ్వు,అహంకారం పెరగకుండా 
ఉండటానికి చేస్తూంటాను..సోమవారం,ఏకాదశి వంటివి చేస్తూంటాను..అప్పుడు బాగ 
ఆకలేసినప్పుడు నాకు ఇష్టమైన ఫుడ్ ఏమిటో తెలుస్తుంది. అప్పుడు సరైన మోతాదులో
 తింటాను..<br />

ఇప్పటికే చాలా సాధించారు..మీ గోల్స్ ఏమైనా ఉన్నాయా<br />

పవన్: అసలు నేను సాధించాలని ఏమీ రాలేదు..ఎప్పుడూ ఏదో ఒక పని 
చేయాలనుకున్నాను…ఏ పని చేసినా అత్యంత శ్రధ్దతో చేయటం ఇష్టం 
నాకు..తప్పించుకోవటానికి ప్రయత్నించను..నా సాయి శక్తులా నాకు కుదిరినంతవరకూ
 కష్టపడతాను..ఆ రోజు కి ఎంత స్ధాయి ఆలోచనా స్దాయి ఉందో దాన్ని పరిపూర్ణంగ 
వాడుకుంటాను…ఆచరణలో పెడతాను..ఇన్ని సినిమాలు చేయాలో..ఇన్ని ఘన విజయాలు 
సాధించాలో అనుకోలేదు..<br />

ఒక వేళ మీరు హీరో కాకపోయి ఉంటే ఏమి అయ్యి ఉండేవారు.<br />

పవన్: వాస్తవానికి ప్రతికూల పరిస్దితులు వచ్చినప్పుడు మనమేంటో 
తెలుస్తుంది…నిజానికి నా ఫస్ట్ సినిమా స్టార్ట్ అవటానికి చాలా కాలం 
పట్టింది. అప్పుడు వేరే పనికి వెళ్లలేదు..అది చెయ్యలేను.. ఇదీ 
అవదు..వెయిట్..వెయిట్..చాలా ప్రస్దేషన్…అప్పుడు ఇంట్లోంచి 
పారిపోదామనుకున్నాను..మా అమ్మకి కూడా చెప్పేసా…బెంగుళూరులో ఓ నర్శరీలో 
పనిచేద్దామనుకున్నాను…మేబి గార్డనర్ అయ్యుండేవాడని..నాకున్న ఎబిల్టీస్ కి 
అంతకు మించి మరేది కాకపోదును .. అంటూ ముగించారు.<br />

Well, the telugu movie is itself a remake of hindi hit movie <i>Dabangg</i>.<br />

But the surprising news is that, Gabbar Singh’s hindi dubbing rights for TV channels is priced at 50 lakhs.<br />
Usually, many tamil and telugu hit movies are dubbed by hindi channels 
like colors, star plus, Smax etc, but those rights are bought at around 
15-20 lakhs, even if its a superhit movie.<br />

Despite being a remake of Dabangg, Gabbar Singh is getting offers of 
almost 3 times the regular price, because the talk spread in north india
 that Gabbar Singh is better than Dabangg.<br />
Even the item song <i>Kevvu Keka</i> is said to be well shot that <i>Munni Badnaam</i> in the original.<br />

After this, straight hit movies from south regional languages are expected to get more price from hindi channels.</div>
